anywhereVR is a free virtual reality viewing system. Relax and view 360 videos of scenic locations, use a smartphone in virtual space and play simple mini-games.
To the beach
Billed as a relaxation tool utilising augmented reality tools, anywhereVR is a few simple concepts tied together in a smooth interface. The basic premise is viewing previously filmed 360 videos with a headset to change the view, giving the illusion of being in a location in real time. While watching these videos, users can sync and Android smartphone and use it via the headset. Also included are some basic mini-games and social media integrations. Some additional videos can be purchased, released occasionally via the PS Store. anywhereVR is a clever use of a VR headset and an interesting concept but the package doesn't have a whole lot of life in it currently. Browsing a smartphone feels clumsy and would be better implemented as a standard feature across all PSVR games with simple controls. Despite the inherent flaws, however, anywhereVR is a fun experience to try once or twice.
Middle of the road
anywhereVR is a welcome addition to the PSVR line up which needs some development. As a free download, VR owners could do worse.
